GUNNISON – Western State Colorado University women's swimming and diving defeated Adams State University this afternoon, 197-63. The Mountaineers have three remaining duals before the conference meet, with a two day dual in Golden against Colorado School of Mines.

The Mountaineers won 12 of 15 events in the meet, including both relays. Four Western student-athletes won two or more individual events.

Freshman
Randi Yarnell led the way with three individual victories. Yarnell kicked things off in her best event, the 200 free. She then followed the victory with a new pool record in the 50 free. Her final victory came in the 500 free. This was the first time she raced the event, and her time of 5:15.44 smashed the previous school record of 5:26.32.

Hannah Meehan,
Ma'alaea Lawrence and
Akemi King all posted two victories in the dual. Meehan kicked things off in the first event with a win in the 1,000 free, then came back to win the 200 backstroke. Lawrence won both the 100 and 200 breaststrokes. King took victories in the 200 fly and the 200 IM.

The other individual victory for the Mountaineers came in the 100 free from
Ariel Fitch.

The 200 medley relay of Yarnell,
Alexandra Marsolek,
Ariel Fitch and
Kate Hewson began the meet with the first win. The final win came in the 400 free relay of Fitch,
Morgan Aragon, Lawrence and Hewson.
