GUNNISON, Colo. – The Western State Colorado University men's basketball team knocked down a season-best 15 three-pointers while committing a season-low five turnovers in an 89-85 victory Friday night over Fort Lewis College.

Devin Kastrup (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) finished with a season-high 27 points, shooting 8-of-16 from the field and 8-of-10 from the charity stripe to lead Western (5-20, 4-17 RMAC). Alex Eddy (Jr., Phoenix, Ariz.) added 18 points while Danny Hopkins (Jr., Riverside, Calif.) finished with 12 points and 10 rebounds for his first double-double as a Mountaineer.

Fort Lewis (19-8, 14-7 RMAC) jumped out to a 7-0 lead in the first two minutes of the game, leading 14-7 before the Mountaineers made it a 14-13 game thanks to four-straight points from Chances Matlock (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.).

The Skyhawks continued to maintain a slight lead over the next several minutes until a three-pointer by Dominique Wright (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) at the 8:27 mark knotted the game at 23 apiece. Wright also notched double figures for the Mountaineers, totaling 11 points on the night.

Western took its first lead of the game just 30 seconds later following a three from Hopkins to give the Mountaineers a 26-25 lead.

Fort Lewis went back on top by five late in the first half before the Mountaineers tied it up at 39-all going into halftime.

Neither team was able to take a lead by more than one possession until Kastrup gave the Mountaineers a five-point advantage with just over 12 minutes to play.

A three-pointer by Eddy pushed the Western lead to eight points before Fort Lewis trimmed its deficit down to two points with nine minutes to play.

However, the Mountaineers were able to keep their distance, taking their largest lead of the game at 81-72 with 3:12 remaining following a Wright triple.

Fort Lewis pulled back within four with 1:28 to play, but Western was able to hold off a Skyhawk rally as Mason Biddle (Sr., Riverside, Calif.) sealed the win late at the charity stripe.

Biddle also recorded a strong performance for Western, finishing with 11 points, nine rebounds and nine assists. It was the second-straight game he posted nine assists and the third time this season.

The Mountaineers finished 15-of-33 (45.5%) from behind the arc, while shooting 39.7 percent (25-of-63) for the game. Fort Lewis shot 48.4 percent (31-of-64) on the night.

Western wraps up the 2014-15 season Saturday at 7:30 p.m. when the Mountaineers host rival Adams State for Senior Night at Paul Wright Gym.
