GUNNISON, Colo. – Adams State shot 74.1 percent in the second half to pull away from a two-point game at halftime, handing the Western State Colorado University men's basketball team a 113-84 defeat Saturday night in the Mountaineers' season finale.

The Mountaineers honored seven seniors before tip-off as they made their final appearances inside Paul Wright Gym.

Dominique Wright,
Sam Johnston,
Ben Schmidt,
Keenan Prochazka and
Curtis Neely were all recognized by the Western men's basketball program as they stood alongside family and friends.

Biddle led the Mountaineers (5-21, 4-18 RMAC) with 26 points, shooting 12-of-15 from the charity stripe. In just two seasons with Western, Biddle finished sixth in the Western career record books with 269 free throws made while climbing to third in the single-season rankings with 170 free throws made.

Also notching double figures for Western was Wright, who totaled 13 points, and Prochazka, who tallied 10 points on 4-of-5 shooting from the field.Â

Adams State (18-8, 14-8 RMAC) went on top 7-0 in the first two minutes of the contest before Western made it a one-point game at 10-9 after two free throws by Wright.

However, the Grizzlies were able to push their lead to double figures at 26-16 midway through the period after scoring on five-straight possessions.

The Mountaineers refused to go away quietly as three-pointers by Biddle and Hopkins kept Western within two possessions.

With Adams leading 36-29, Kastrup connected from deep before
Chances Matlock (Fr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) knocked down two free throws to make it 36-34 Grizzlies with 4:21 remaining in the half.

Western hit three triples in four possessions as a three-pointer by Biddle gave the Mountaineers their first lead of the game at 44-42 with 1:22 to play. Adams hit a trey in the final seconds to take a 46-44 lead into the break.

A 13-2 Adams run in the first 1:52 of the second half gave the Grizzlies a 59-46 advantage with Juwan Buchanan scoring six points in the Adams spurt.

The Grizzlies maintained a comfortable lead through the remainder of the second half as they pushed their lead to as much as 33 points in the period to come away with the victory.

Buchanan led the Grizzlies with 38 points, shooting 11-of-12 from the floor while hitting 16-of-18 from the free throw line. Mikey Hope and Mike Hemsley each recorded 17 points while Justin Kauffman also hit double digits with 12 points.
