FORT SMITH, Ark. – Western State Colorado University men's basketball fell victim to University of Arkansas Fort Smith in a 92-68 game. The Mountaineers look for their first win against Rogers State University tomorrow at 2 p.m.
Western State (0-1) played well in the first half, keeping the game within ten points at 39-30. The game became a shootout in the second half, as Arkansas Fort Smith outscored Western 53-38.
Four Mountaineers scored in double digits, led by
James Thomas' 15. Thomas was five of eight from the field and five of six from the line.
Ben Beauchamp scored 13, while
Tom Folsom chipped in a dozen and
Will Duggan added nine.
Also for the Mountaineers,
Danny Hopkins scored all nine of his points from the line, making all nine shots.
Defensively, Duggan led the team with a game-high four steals. Beauchamp had a team-high seven boards, while Folsom led the team with three blocks.
Arkansas Fort Smith (1-0) dominated the boards, led by Kenny Martin and Dalton Glapion's nine boards each. Four Lions scored in the double digits, led by Seth Youngblood with 15.
