CHADRON, Neb. – Western State Colorado University women's volleyball team defeated Chadron State College (4-10, 3-3 RMAC) Saturday evening in four sets (25-19, 25-18, 19-25, 25-23) in Chadron. The Mountaineers (5-12, 3-4 RMAC) travel to play new Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference member Westminster College Friday evening in Salt Lake City, and close out their second road stretch with a match against Colorado Mesa Saturday.
Jordan Eatwell had a season-best 18 kills – the third-best match in her career – while hitting .268.
Tori Gaherty added in a dozen kills, her third-best mark this season.
Molly Hothan rounded out the top-three with 10 kills.
Setter
Allison Walker had the second-best match of her career, finishing with 51 assists. Walker's career-best is 54 assists, but came in a five-set match last season. She also contributed three aces, a pair of blocks and five digs in the match.
Defensively, Hothan commanded the net, dishing out five blocks. In the back row,
Amanda Maestas had 16 digs, while Eatwell added 11.
With the win, Western State is now in RMAC playoff contention, currently sitting fourth in the Mountain Division. The Mountaineers have 11 conference games remaining with a combined opponent conference record of 33-37. Western has a half-game lead on CSU-Pueblo in the division, and will rematch the ThunderWolves in the final regular-season match.
