GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. - Four Western State Colorado University Mountaineer men's basketball players scored in double figures Saturday night against Colorado Mesa University.  However, it wasn't enough for the Mountaineers to defeat CMU Saturday night in Grand Junction, Colorado.

Western (3-12, 2-9 RMAC) and CMU (13-4, 8-3 RMAC) played a back-and-forth game for the first 15 minutes on the game.  The Mountaineer kept the game close by playing suffocating defense.  However, the Mavericks went on a 10-2 run to end the first half and took a 34-26 lead into halftime.

After taking a 10-point lead in the second half, Western cut the lead one point with 8:09 remaining.  The Mountaineers kept it a one possession game for most of the second half, but were unable to complete the comeback against their Western slope rivals.

Four Western players scored in double figures Saturday, led by Alex Eddy's (Jr., Phoenix, Arizona) 16 points.  Dominique Wright (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colorado) added 12 points for the Mountaineers, while Danny Hopkins (Jr., Riverside, California) scored 11, and C.J. Schutt (Jr., Yorkville, Illinois) scored 10.

CMU's Ryan Stephan led the game in scoring with 28 points.

Western will continue the season next weekend at home against Regis University and Metro State University Denver.
