DENVER, Colo. - Western State Colorado University volleyball ended a road trip on Saturday at Regis University. The Mountaineers played tough, but lost the match against Regis 3-0.
Western (0-10, 0-6 RMAC) came up short Saturday, despite a great team effort. A total of 13 Mountaineers made an appearance in Saturday's conference matchup.
Regis (10-4, 5-1 RMAC) got the upper hand in the first two sets against Western. The Rangers took both sets by a score of 25-10.
In the third set, the Mountaineers fought hard to keep pace with the Rangers. Western found themselves ahead, 12-10 and had momentum on their side. However, the home crowd helped Regis to a 4-0 run, retaking the lead, 14-12. The Mountaineers would climb back into the set and tied the Rangers at 22 points. An error, ace and kill, all in favor of Regis, ended the match as Regis took the win.
Western's
Jordan Eatwell (Fr., Fruita, Colorado) led the team in kills with seven.
Tepora Su'a (Jr., San Diego, California) recorded 23 assists for the Mountaineers, while teammate
Morgan Stansberry (Sr., Olathe, Colorado) added 14 digs.
The Mountaineers will return home next Friday to take on Fort Lewis College in Paul Wright Gym, starting at 7 p.m.
