DURANGO, Colo. - Western State Colorado University men's basketball were neck and neck with the Fort Lewis College Skyhawks Sunday night.  The Mountaineers and Skyhawks were within two possessions of each other for much of the game, but FLC came away with an 81-92 victory.

Western (2-8, 1-5 RMAC) played right with the home team Sunday.  The Mountaineers trailed FLC (8-3, 3-2 RMAC) by only three points at the break.  Danny Hopkins (Jr., Riverside, California) and Mason Biddle (Sr., Riverside, California) helped keep the Mountaineers in striking distance during the first 20 minutes.  Biddle scored 15 of his game high 30 points in the first half, while Hopkins added 11 first half points, making three-of-six three-point field goals.

Hopkins made five three-pointers on Sunday, contributing 21 points for Western.

For the first ten minutes of the second half, the lead exchanged hands seven times.  FLC regained the lead with 9:29 left to play.  The Skyhawks maintained the lead for the rest of the game and ended the game with a 92-81 score.

Dominique Wright (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colorado) was the only other Mountaineer to score in double figures.  Wright added 11 points for Western.

Biddle's 30 points is a career high for the senior guard.  Sunday was the third time this season Biddle scored 20 or more points in a game.

The Mountaineers will continue the season in 2015 when they host Colorado School of Mines on Jan. 2 in Paul Wright Gym.
