Crystal Powell (Fr., Aurora, Colorado) scored a match high 12 kills Saturday night against Adams State University. However, it was not enough as the Mountaineers fell to the Grizzlies 3-0 in Paul Wright Gym.
Western (0-20, 0-16 RMAC) was down seven points, 20-13, late in the first set. The Mountaineers came charging back, tying the match at 24 points. Three errors by Western helped give ASU (14-11, 8-8 RMAC) a first set victory by a score of 27-25.
The Mountaineers were again down 13-20 in the second set. However, Western's comeback fell short and the Grizzlies won the second by a score of 25-17.
Like the first and second sets, Western was down 13-20 in the third. Western came back and trailed by three 19-22. The Grizzlies scored the next three points, sweeping the Mountaineers in three sets.

Jordan Eatwell (Fr., Fruita, Colorado) was the second leading scorer in the match, recording 11 kills. Teammate
Allison Walker (So., Aurora, Colorado) led all players with 38 assists in the match.
The Mountaineers will finish the season next weekend at home. Western will host Western New Mexico University on Friday and New Mexico Highlands University on Saturday. Both matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym.
