LARAMIE, Wyo. - After the first 6:20, Western State Colorado University men's basketball had University of Wyoming fans writhing in their seats.  The Mountaineers held an eight point lead over the NCAA Division I Cowboys.  However, the Western upset bid fell short as Wyoming defeated the Mountaineers 61-46 in an exhibition game Tuesday night.

Western (1-1, 0-0 RMAC) used three point shooting to take control of the game early. The Mountaineers scored seven of their nine first half field goals from beyond the arc.

The Mountaineers held their early lead for the first 10:14 of the game.  Wyoming took the lead and pushed it to 14 points by the 4:59 mark of the first half.  Western then proceeded to go on a 13-2 run over the next four minutes to pull within three points with under a minute to play before halftime.  At the break, Western trailed by six points, 31-25.

In the second half, Wyoming took control of the game and went ahead by as many as 19 points.

Western's Dominique Wright (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colorado) led all scorers with 16 points on 5-of-7 shooting, all of which came from beyond the arc.

In total, Western made 10 three-pointers, attempting 30 three-point shots.

Wyoming scored 34 of their 61 points from inside the paint.  Many of those points came off of dunks.

Western continues the season at the Air Force Academy on Saturday in another exhibition game.
