GUNNISON, Colo. - The 2014-15 season for Western State Colorado University swimming and diving officially gets underway on Saturday.  The Mountaineers will travel down the road to Alamosa to face rival Adams State University in a head-to-head dual meet.  The meet is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.  On Sunday, Western travels down Highway 50 to Pueblo, Colorado for an early season dual meet against Colorado State University - Pueblo.  The meet against CSU-Pueblo begins at 3 p.m. from Pueblo County High School's pool.

In the program's third year, since being reinstated, the Mountaineers will look to continue to improve.  Western returns at total of 13 swimmers from the 2013-14 squad.  In addition to the 13 returners, 11 newcomers join the Mountaineers, adding depth and strength in many different events for Western.

Also a newcomer to Mountaineer swim is Head Coach Geoff Hanson.  Hanson is in his first season at the helm of the Western women's swimming and diving program.

The Mountaineers have yet to defeat ASU in a head-to-head competition since being reinstated.  The Grizzlies have won the past four meetings between the two schools.

Sunday, the Mountaineers will face first-year program CSU-Pueblo.  Western will be the ThunderWolves' inaugural opponent.

Results will be posted on www.GoMountaineers.com following the conclusion of both meets.
