GUNNISON, Colo. - On Tuesday, Western State Colorado University volleyball hosted Colorado State University-Pueblo in Paul Wright Gym. The Mountaineers earned a first set win but fell to the ThunderWolves 3-1 in the first of four home matches for Western.
After going down 10-6 in the first set, Western (0-19, 0-15 RMAC) went on a 12-1 run to go ahead 18-11. The Mountaineers held on to win the first set of the match 25-19.
The second set, CSU-Pueblo (14-11, 8-7 RMAC) reversed the score to win 25-19.
The ThunderWolves controlled the third set, taking it 25-17.
In the fourth set, Western went down 14-5 before coming alive. The Mountaineers rallied and were down just four points at 18-14. Western continued to fight and were down three at 20-23. However, the ThunderWolves scored the next two of three points and took the set 25-21.

The Mountaineers will host Adams State University Saturday night. The match against rival ASU is "Trick or Treat Night" and those wearing Halloween costumes will receive free candy and have a chance at winning a $50 prize. Saturday's match is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m. in Paul Wright Gym.
