As an employee of Gunnison Valley Health, Alex Powell begins her third year working with Mountaineer Athletics after starting in 2018. Her primary duties entail coverage of cross country, track & field, swimming & diving and volleyball for the Mountaineers.
Powell graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato in May of 2018 with her Masters of Science in Exercise Physiology. Prior to earning her masters, she was a double-major in athletic training and exercise science at Minnesota State University, Mankato finishing her undergraduate education in 2016.
While pursuing her masters, Powell served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. Her duties included coverage and non-surgical rehabilitation for the Mavericks nationally ranked football team and 2017 NCAA Division II champion softball team.
As a student, Powell completed internships with the NFL's Minnesota Vikings in athletic training and also with the University of Minnesota in strength and conditioning.
A BOC Certified Athletic Trainer, she is also certified by the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice and is an approved Clinical Preceptor from Minnesota State University, Mankato.
She also maintains membership in the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and the Great Lakes Athletic Training Association.
Alex resides in Gunnison with her husband, Slater Powell.
