Katie Moskowitz

Katie Moskowitz enters her fifth season as the head coach at Western State Colorado University after leading the Mountaineers to one of their most successful seasons in recent history in 2010.

Moskowitz stands alone in fourth in Western volleyball coaching records with 30 wins in just more than four seasons.

Western State Colorado University finished with its best record and most wins in four years during the 2010 season and experienced a 10 percent increase in overall attendance. The Mountaineers finished within two matches of RMAC tournament qualification.

The Mountaineers were also recognized in 2010 for their commitment to the community, with the annual “Tough Enough to Wear Pink” fundraiser with
Gunnison High School earning an NCAA Division II Game Environmental Award.

The Mountaineers closed out the 2009 season strong against a number of RMAC tournament teams and just missed out on their own bid for the conference postseason. She’ll have a roster full of senior experience in 2010 with seven student-athletes in their final season of collegiate volleyball.

Moskowitz returns to the head coaching role, after leading the Adams State Grizzlies from 2002-04. She led the Grizzlies to their first, and so far only, RMAC West Division title in 2003. Moskowitz compiled a 45-38 record at Adams State and coached five All-RMAC student-athletes.

Moskowitz completed her master’s degree in health, physical education and recreation at Adams State following her first season in 2003. She graduated with her bachelor’s degree from Black Hills State in 1998.

A native of Steamboat Springs, Colo., Moskowitz is married to Mike, who serves as the Head men’s basketball Coach for Western State, and are the parents of Myles (7) and Elliot (4). Her father, Kelly Meek, is an
assistant for the volleyball and men’s basketball programs after a 34-year hall of fame coaching career at
Steamboat Springs High School.
