Danny Mirda enters his second season as the Western Colorado volleyball assistant coach in 2021.
In his first season with the Mountaineers, Mirda helped lead the team to their first RMAC Tournament appearance since 2015. The team went 6-8 overall and 6-7 in conference play.Â
Mirda joins the Mountaineers after spending the last two seasons as a volunteer assistant coach at Northern Illinois (Dekalb, Illinois) where he helped the NCAA Division-I Huskies in various facets and coached two All-MAC First Team honorees, three MAC distinguished scholar athletes and 14 All-Academic MAC athletes.

During his time as a volunteer assistant, Mirda was also a graduate teaching and research assistant and a head club volleyball coach.

Prior to to his time at Northern Illinois, Mirda played for the men's club volleyball program at the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh from 2013-18 where he helped the team to Wisconsin Volleyball Conference Division II state runner-up finishes in 2015, 2016 and 2017. Mirda also helped the team to a pair of top-10 NCVF Nationals finishes.

Mirda received his bachelor's degree in psychology and women and gender studies in 2018 from UW Oshkosh before earning his master's degree in sport and exercise psychology from Northern Illinois in 2020.
