Matthew Svoboda enters his fifth season in 2023-24 as an assistant coach for the Western Colorado track and field team with an emphasis on jumps and multis.
Svoboda led the Mountaineers to six indoor All-RMAC honors and six outdoor Track and Field honors last season.
Svoboda graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Ambrose University in Davenport, Iowa in 2018 with a bachelor's in history and minors in classical studies, international studies and political science.
He competed in track and field all four years at St. Ambrose, and was an all-conference athlete in the heptathlon in 2017 and 2018.
In 2019, he spent a year coaching at Peoria Notre Dame High School, where he coached state qualifiers in the 300-meter hurdles, 100-meter hurdles, triple jump, and had two All-State athletes in Pole Vault.
