Henry Adams joined the Western Colorado University men’s basketball staff as an Assistant Coach prior to the 2026–27 season, bringing a wealth of experience from successful NCAA Division I and Division III programs.
Adams comes to Western Colorado following a standout 2025–26 season at Christopher Newport University, where he served as an Assistant Coach. The Captains finished the season 25–6, spent much of the year ranked among the nation’s Top 10, and advanced to the NCAA Division III Final Four. During the season, Christopher Newport earned victories over No. 2 Mary Washington, No. 12 Virginia Wesleyan and No. 24 Johns Hopkins before defeating Stevens, Washington & Jefferson, Randolph-Macon and the University of St. Thomas (Texas) in the NCAA Tournament. Adams’ responsibilities included scouting, player development, film analysis, recruiting and day-to-day program operations.
Before joining Christopher Newport, Adams served as an Assistant Coach at Dominican University (Ill.), where he was involved in player development, scouting, recruiting and team operations. During his time with the Stars, he helped the program improve its offensive production and perimeter shooting.
Adams also spent two seasons at Northwestern University, where he helped the Wildcats reach consecutive NCAA Tournaments for the first time in program history. Northwestern posted back-to-back 22–12 seasons, finished second in the Big Ten during the 2022–23 campaign, earned national Top-25 rankings and recorded two victories over No. 1 Purdue. Adams worked extensively in scouting, film analysis, player development, recruiting and basketball operations during his time in Evanston.
Adams began his collegiate coaching career at the University of Miami, spending three seasons with the Hurricanes. During the 2021–22 season, Miami won 26 games and advanced to the NCAA Tournament Elite Eight, earning tournament victories over USC, Auburn and Iowa State.
A native of Downers Grove, Illinois, Adams earned a Master of Arts in Sports Administration from Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science in Communications from the University of Miami.
