Daniel Trujillo

Daniel Trujillo enters his third season as the assistant men’s basketball coach at Western State College under the lead of Mike Moskowitz. He will be responsible for the development of the guards and also assist with academics, recruiting, travel, scouting, off-season workouts, and summer camps, as well as other day-to-day responsibilities. 

Prior to coming to Gunnison, Trujillo was the head assistant coach at Otero (Colo.) Junior College during the 2006-07 season. Before that, Trujillo was the head junior varsity coach and varsity assistant coach at Taos High School in Northern New Mexico from 2004-06. During the 2003-04 season, Trujillo was an assistant coach for both men’s and women’s basketball at RMAC foe New Mexico Highlands University.

A native of Taos, N.M., Trujillo played his college basketball at Adams State College. While at Adams State, he was a four-year starter and received All-RMAC honors in 2001 and 2002. He finished his career first for the Grizzlies in the Division II era for three-point field goals made (190), second in assists (386), fourth in steals (102) and fourth in points (1,074)

Trujillo, 29, earned his master’s degree in sports administration from New Mexico Highlands in 2009. He graduated from Adams State  in 2002 where he received bachelor degrees in both business administration and sport and exercise management.
