Wayne McGinn returns to Western for the 2019-20 season as an Assistant Football Coach for Defensive Backs.
McGinn worked at Western from 1987 to 2000 as the defensive coordinator, assistant coach, and head coach. During his time coaching the Mountaineers won six Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships and made it to three NCAA Championship Playoffs, along with one NAIA Final Four appearance.
During his 13 years at Western he was coach of the best RMAC pass defense in 1988, 1992, 19997, and 1999, along with having the best rush defense in 1995 and 1997.
McGinn also taught at Western from 1987 to 2000 as an instructor of kinesiology, emergency response, and CPR.
Prior to working at Western in 1987 Wayne coached at Loveland High School for three years and Texas Christian University for two years.
After leaving Western in 2000 McGinn became the head football coach at Adams where he coached for seven years and finished runner-up in the RMAC in 2004.
From 2008 to 2009 he worked at CSU-Pueblo as the offensive coordinator/offensive line coach.
In 2012, Wayne went back to the high school level starting at Pueblo Central High School for a year then going back to Loveland High School where he started his career. In his six years at Loveland High School, he went 54-17 and won the 2018 4A Colorado State Championship. In 2013 they made the quarterfinals, they were state runner-ups in 2015 and made the quarterfinals again in 2017.
