Paul An begins his second season with Western State Colorado University football in 2017 as the Mountaineers’ offensive line coach.
In 2016, An’s offensive line helped pave the way for Austin Ekeler, who was named the program’s first Harlon Hill Trophy finalist as the best NCAA Division II college football player. The offensive line also helped Ekeler lead Division II in rushing yards per game at 149.5.
In his first season, An helped offensive lineman Holden Rexius to All-RMAC Second Team honors.
An came to Western after a three-year stint at Langston University in Oklahoma. At Langston, An was the run game coordinator, offensive line coach, academic liaison, recruiting coordinator, compliance liaison, and the operating/scholarship budget liaison.
During his time with the Lions, An coached all five starting offensive linemen, all three years, to all-conference honors. Langston finished ranked in the top 25 of the NAIA two years of those years and averaged 175.8 yards rushing per game over the course of three years.
Prior to Langston, An was an assistant offensive line coach and graduate assistant at Fresno State University from 2009 to 2012. From 2006-09 An was the run game coordinator as well as the offensive and defensive line coach at Arcadia High School in Arcadia, California.
After completing his playing eligibility at Northern Arizona University, An was an assistant coach for the Lumberjacks while he finished his undergraduate degree. An earned bachelor’s degree in marketing from NAU in 2006 after playing offensive line for the Lumberjacks from 2002-05.
An earned a master’s degree in business administration from Fresno State University in 2012.
