Michael R. Wade

Michael R. Wade enters his second season with the Mountaineers in 2020 as the team's wide receivers and tight ends coach.

Wade is a Western Colorado football alum who was recruited and played for Western Hall of Fame coach Bill Noxon (graduating in 1987). With 32 years of coaching experience at nine different high school programs, Wade brings quality experience to the Mountaineers and looks to electrify Western's passing game. 

Wade spent 18 years (2001-19) working in the Douglas County School District as the head football coach at Legend High School and the assistant varsity coach at Douglas County High School.

Wad also spent four years (1997-2001) as the head football coach at Montrose High School, along with being the head junior varsity coach for baseball. 

Working in the Jefferson County School District, Coach Wade coached at Golden High School as the quarterbacks, receivers and defensive backs coach. At Lakewood High School he took the role of offensive coordinator, quarterback and receiver coach. Then at Mullen High School, Wade was the kick game coordinator and drop backs coach. 

From 1990-93, Wade worked at Garden City Public School District as the assistant varsity football coach in charge of freshmen, scout coordinator and quarterbacks. He also spent a year (1989-90 at Jefferson County School District as the assistant varsity football coach and defensive coordinator.

Starting his coaching career at Gunnison High School, Wade worked as the head junior varsity football coach from 1987-89.

Throughout his coaching career Wade has worked in various teaching position such as mathematics, health, strength training, physical education and STAR Lab coordinator.
