GUNNISON, Colo. Western Colorado was held without a goal Sunday at Katy O. Rady Field, dropping a 4-0 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference decision to visiting Colorado Mesa University on the final day of the University's Homecoming and Family Weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The opening two minutes of each half put the Mountaineers behind the eight-ball. The Mavericks found the back of the Western goal 1 minute and 57 seconds into the game, and after the halftime break added a goal not quite 90 seconds into the second half to extend the gap on the scoreboard to 3-0.
- Mesa had scored in the 22nd minute during first-half action for its 2-0 lead at the break and added a fourth goal in the game's 56th minute for the final margin on the scoreboard.
- Western's best chance at lighting up the scoreboard came just after Mesa's third goal, as Lauren Kindt put a hard shot on frame that Mavs goalkeeper Keely Wieczorek was able to stop to maintain her clean sheet.
TURF NOTES
- Mountaineer goalie Ashlyn Fitzpatrick finished the game with 11 saves, a single-game career high for the senior netminder.
- The Mavs held a distinct advantage in possession, allowing Western a total of just three shots during the game while accumulating 31 shots with 16 on frame.
