ALAMOSA, Colo. Western Colorado soccer rallied from behind with three unanswered second-half goals to down host Adams State in a Thursday afternoon Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference matchup.
JUST THE FACTS

Records: Western 3-5-1 (1-3-1 RMAC), Adams State 5-4-1 (1-3-0)
Location: ASU Lacrosse & Soccer Field, Alamosa, Colo.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Grizzlies were first on the board, scoring in the 28th minute, collecting a misplayed ball within the box and dishing across the box for an easy tap-in by Mia Del Muro.
- Western finished the half with an 8-5 advantage in shots but headed into the break still trailing by that one goal deficit.
- The pressure in the Mountaineers' attacking third started to build early in the second half, until Ava Odil broke through for the equalizer in the 66th.
- A corner didn't produce but Western regained possession just outside the box and a cross was sent to the opposite side of the box where PJ Plumb tapped it back toward the center and Odil one-timed a shot from 18 yards out into the bottom left corner.
- Adams State pushed back, getting off three shots in the ensuing minutes, but the Mountaineers worked through the midfield after an Ashlyn Fitpatrick save, with Natsuki Murakami dishing a soft through ball between defenders.
- Jordan Welsh and ASU goalkeeper Mariely Jimenez, gave chase, coming from opposite directions, with Welsh winning the race, dodging Jimenez to the left and slotting a shot with her left foot into the open goal for a 2-1 Western lead at the 77:29 mark of the game.
- With Adams pressing forward a Grizzlies foul and Mountaineer free kick led Western down the right side where Welsh drove toward goal and launched a shot that Jimenez blocked but couldn't control. Welsh one-timed the rebound, lifting it over a prone Jimenez into the upper left corner for her second goal of the game and the finishing touch on the Mountaineer victory.
TURF NOTES
- Welsh's two goals lifts her career total to nine, one goal away from tying the program's career goals record.
- Adams State ended up with a 12-11 shots advantage in the second half, getting seven on frame, all stopped by Fitzpatrick.
- Odil's goal was her first collegiate goal.
