COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. The Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference on Monday, Oct. 5 announced its weekly football honors, naming Western Colorado quarterback
Josiah Roy its Offensive Player of the Week.
In Saturday night's 52-24 RMAC win at New Mexico Highlands, Roy threw for 227 yards and 5 touchdowns in leading the Mountaineers to 52 unanswered points beginning with his 28-yard pitch and catch with
DJ Allen Jr. midway through the second quarter.
He added a 10-yard scoring toss to
Ramon Ruiz four minutes later then, after a forced fumble that gave Western the ball in the final minute of the quarter, he threw is third touchdown pass of the frame, connecting with
Blake Kramer for 24 yards with 30 seconds left in the opening half.
He added an 11-yard strike to Kramer on the opening series of the third quarter, and then one more early in the fourth quarter with a quick 3-yard toss to
Caden Measner.
For the season, Roy has 15 touchdown passes and 1,061 yards passing through five starts, while also adding 87 yards and 1 touchdown on the ground.
Roy and the seventh-ranked Mountaineers have a bye this weekend before welcoming Fort Lewis College to Mojo Field in Mountaineer Bowl at the Rady Family Sports Complex on Sat., Oct. 17.
