JUST THE FACTS

Records: Western 4-6-1 overall (2-4-1 RMAC), CSM 8-2-3 (4-1-2)
Location: Katy O. Rady Field, Gunnison, Colo.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- With no score yet in the game, Welsh gave Western the lead in the early moments of the 23rd minute, creating to her right then launching a shot that skirted under the crossbar above the Orediggers' leaping goalkeeper.
- The lead lasted only a few minutes, however, as CSM's leading goal scorer, Bella Campos, knocked home the equalizer three minutes later.
- Campos added a second goal late in the half, giving the Orediggers the lead, 2-1, entering the halftime break.
- Western registered a 6-5 shots advantage in the second half, but it was Mines that scored the only marker as Campos completed the hat trick with a goal in the 68th.
RADY TURF NOTES
- Welsh's goal provided Western its first goal against the Orediggers since a 5-1 loss in November 2016, and gave the Mountaineers their first lead over Mines since the double-overtime winner in a 3-2 victory earlier that same season.
- Goalie Ashlyn Fitzpatrick came away with six saves during the game, while her counterpart at the other end of the pitch, Keira Garcia, earned the win with one save.
- The game was played in severely windy conditions, with gusts up to 45 miles per hour. Western fought against the wind during first half action then had the wind directly at its back throughout the second half.
- The game was the program's annual Pink Out Game, bringing attention to October's Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
