Mountaineer Men 3rd & Women T-4th in RMAC XC Preseason Poll

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.  The Rocky Mountain Conference released its men's and women's 2025 preseason coaches' polls for cross country, showing the Mountaineer men's team in third place and the women's team tied for fourth within their respective rankings.

The men received 161 points while the women received 156 points.

Western men's and women's cross country closed their 2024 seasons, respectfully, with third and fourth place finishes at the RMAC Championship Meet, moving on to both place fourth at the NCAA Division II South-Central Regional Championships.

Both teams advanced to the NCAA 2024 DII National Championship Meet where the Mountaineer men finished ninth while the women finished twelfth.

From those two squads the Mountaineers return, 2024 Freshman of the Year, Oliver Diaz and Second Team All-RMAC runner Tyler Nord for the men and First Team All-RMAC athletes Peyton Weiss and Lauren Willson for the women. Diaz, Nord and Willson received 2025 preseason All-RMAC nods.  

Western opens the season with a team time trial on Sat., Aug. 30 and then head to Colorado Mesa for the Gig Leadbetter Maverick Stampede on Fri., Sept. 5.

The RMAC championship will be in Colorado Springs, Colo. on Sat., Oct. 25, followed by the regional championship in Pueblo, Colo., on Sat., Nov. 8 then the NCAA championship on Sat., Nov. 22 in Kenosha, Wis.
