Gunnison, Colo.,   The Western Colorado Men's Basketball team hosts Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents Colorado School of Mines on Thursday February 6 at 7:30pm then Metropolitan State University Denver on Saturday February 8 at 3pm.
 
WESTERN COLORADO MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE GAME| 2024-25 STATS
  • WCU comes off losses to RMAC opponent UC-Colorado Springs (68-64) and RMAC opponent Colorado Christian (69-61). The Mountaineers go into the weekend with an overall record of 6-13 and a conference record of 4-8.
  • Versus UCCS senior Kade Juelfs led the Mountaineers with 18 points, going 6-11 from the field, 3-5 from three and 3-6 from the charity stripe. Seniors Trey Anderson and Amar Rivers followed with 14. Anderson went 4-9 from the field, 3-6 behind the arch and 3-5 from the free throw line. Rivers went 6-17 from the field, 1-3 from three and 1-2 from the free throw line.
  • Juniors Jamel Hollins and Andrew Reichart each grabbed 8 boards, senior Nalik Veasley pulled down 6 and Rivers finished with 5.
  • Juelfs recorded 4 assists and 3 steals. Veasley was next with 3 assists.
  • WCU shot 40.7% from the field, 50% from three and 40.9% from the charity stripe. The Mountaineers beat UCCS on the boards 43-40, had 11 total assists, 6 total steals and 14 bench points.
  • Against CCU, Juelfs led the Mountaineers with 13 points going 4-9 from the field, 3-6 from three and 2-4 from the charity stripe. Still and Anderson recorded 10 points. Still went 2-5 form the field and 6-7 from the free throw line. Anderson went 3-9 from the field, 3-8 from three and 1-2 from the free throw line. Reichart and sophomore Tyler Halligan followed with 7 points each. Rivers, junior Ty Buckmon and freshman Dalton Grant finished with 4.
  • Juelfs led the Mountaineers in assists with 3. Hollins, Rivers and junior Christian Still each contributed 2. Reichart and Anderson ended with 2 steals.
  • Hollins and Reichart paced WCU with 6 boards. Juelfs, Halligan and Grant respectfully grabbed 5.
  • WCU shot 31.4% from the field, 22.7% from three and 69.2% from the free throw line.
  • Juelfs leads the Mountaineer offense with 251 total points (13.2 ppg). Rivers is right behind with 203 total points (10.7 ppg). They are followed by Anderson, 174 total points (9.2 ppg), Halligan, 163 total points (8.6 ppg), and Reichart, 158 total points (8.3 ppg).
  • Hollins is the front runner for rebounds with 131 total (6.9 rpg). Reichart follows with 87 total (4.6 rpg). Third is Rivers with 70 total (3.7 rpg).
  • Buckmon leads the Mountaineers steals with 17 total. Juelfs paces the Mountaineers with 41 assists. Rivers has earned 13 blocks on the season, followed by Anderson who has accumulated 12.
  • WCU averages 71.2 points per game, shoots 45.1% from the field, 34.8% from behind the arch, and 62.8% from the free throw line. The Mountaineers average 33.5 rebounds, 13.6 assists, 12.2 turnovers, 5.8 steals, and 2.8­­ blocks per game.
COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE WEEKEND| 2024-25 STATS
  • The Orediggers come off a two, defeating RMAC opponents Fort Lewis (82-79) and Adams State (97-84).
  • CSM goes into the weekend with an overall record of 17-3 and a conference record of 11-1. They average 85.1 points, 35.3 rebounds, 19.5 assists, 13.4 turnovers, 8.1 steals, and 3.4 blocks per game.  
  • Graduate Majok Deng paces the offense with 338 total points, averaging 16.9 ppg. Right behind him is sophomore Markus Pastorcic-Straun with 226 points (11.3 ppg), then redshirt senior Riley Schroeder with 201 points (11.8 ppg).
  • Sophomore Alex Romack leads CSM in rebounds with 90 total (4.5 rpg), redshirt senior Grant Pressly is right behind pulling down 89 total rebounds (4.7 rpg).
  • Pressly is the front runner for assist with 81. Pastorcic-Straun leads with 24 steals. Sophomore Johnathan Moore has recorded a total of 17 blocks on the season.
  • The Orediggers shoot 50.8% from the field, 38.6% from behind the arch and 77.3% from the charity stripe.
METROPOLITIAN STATE UNIVERISTY DENVER MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE WEEKEND| 2024-25 STATS
  • The Roadrunners are coming off a split weekend. Most recently defeating RMAC opponent New Mexico Highlands (79-68) then dropping to RMAC opponent Fort Lewis College (81-74).
  • MSU goes into the weekend with an overall record of 15-5 and a conference record of 9-3. They average 79.1 points, 36.6 rebounds, 14.9 assists, 13.4 turnovers, 5.4 steals, and 2.7 blocks per game.  
  • Senior Brayden Carter paces the offense with 300 total points, averaging 15.0 ppg. Right behind him is senior Caleb McGill with 290 points (14.5 ppg), then junior Quave Propst-Allison with 202 points (10.1 ppg).
  • Carter leads MSU in rebounds with 159 total (8.0 rpg), McGill is right behind pulling down 154 total rebounds (7.7 rpg).
  • Senior KJ Garrett is the front runner for assist with 63. McGill leads in steals and blocks with 17 steals and 25 blocks on the season.
  • The Roadrunners shoot 50.0% from the field, 38.3% from behind the arch and 75.7% from the charity stripe.
