Gunnison, Colo.,   The Western Colorado Men's Basketball team hosts to RMAC opponent Chadron State College on Thursday February 20 at 7:30pm for Hero Night, then hosts South Dakota Mines Saturday February 22 at 3pm for a Red Out and Lunar New Year celebration.

WESTERN COLORADO MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE GAME| 2024-25 STATS
  • WCU comes off losses to RMAC opponent Adams State University (90-81) and RMAC opponent Fort Lewis College (76-61). The Mountaineers go into the weekend with an overall record of 6-17 and a conference record of 4-12.
  • Versus ASU senior Amar River paced the offense with 29 points, going 9-19 from the field, 4-8 from behind the arch and 7-8 from the charity stripe. Sophomore Tyler Halligan followed with 14 points, going 5-6 from the field, 1-1 from three and 3-5 from the free throw line. Senior Kade Juelfs was third with 13 points, going 5-9 from the field and 3-6 from three while also leading in assists with 4.
  • Senior Trey Anderson pulled down 5 boards followed by freshman Dawlton Grant who had 4 then junior Andrew Reichart and Halligan with 3.
  • Rivers recorded 2 steals and Grant accumulated 2 blocks.
  • WCU shot 45.8% from the field, 39.1% from three and 72% from the charity stripe.
  • Against FLC Juelfs led the Mountaineers with 20 points, going 7-14 from the field, 4-8 from three and 2-2 from the charity stripe. Junior Christian Still followed with 15, going 5-10 from the field, 3-5 from behind the arch and 2-2 from the free throw line. Rivers and Reichart each put up 8 and Halligan had 7.
  • Grant and Halligan respectfully accumulated 3 assists. Rivers and Juelfs were granted 2.
  • Junior Ty Buckmon recorded 2 steals while Still and Halligan each had 1.
  • Reichart pulled down 7 boards, 1 offensive and 6 defensive. Rivers and Grant each grabbed 5.
  • WCU shot 38.9% from the field, 37.5% from three and 62.5% from the charity stripe. The Mountaineers had 24 points in the paint, 5 fast break points and 3 bench points.
  • Juelfs leads the Mountaineer offense with 300 total points (13 ppg). Rivers is right behind with 259 total points (11.3 ppg). They are followed by Halligan, 202 total points (8.8 ppg), Anderson, 197 total points (9.0 ppg), and Reichart, 186 total points (8.1 ppg).
  • Hollins is the front runner for rebounds with 135 total (6.4 rpg). Reichart follows with 107 total (4.7 rpg). Third is Rivers with 81 total (3.5 rpg).
  • Rivers and Buckmon lead the Mountaineers steals each with 22 total. Juelfs paces the Mountaineers with 52 assists. Anderson has earned 15 blocks on the season, followed by Rivers who has accumulated 13.
  • WCU averages 70.0 points per game, shoots 44.1% from the field, 34.3% from behind the arch, and 64.1% from the free throw line. The Mountaineers average 33.5 rebounds, 13.1 assists, 12.5 turnovers, 5.8 steals, and 2.7 blocks per game.
CHADRON STATE MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE WEEKEND| 2024-25 STATS
  • The Eagles come off a two losses weekend, dropping to RMAC opponent MSU Denver (73-71) and RMAC opponent Colorado School of Mines (104-77).
  • CSC goes into the weekend with an overall record of 12-12 and a conference record of 8-8. They average 78.2 points, 37.6 rebounds, 14.1 assists, 11.3 turnovers, 5.8 steals, and 2.7 blocks per game.  
  • Senior Bryce Latimer paces the offense with 504 total points, averaging 18.7 ppg. Right behind him is senior Josh Robinson with 436 points (15.6 ppg), then junior Dalton Peterson with 237 points (8.2 ppg).
  • Senior Josh Robinson leads CSC in rebounds with 238 total (8.5 rpg), junior Martin Poznanovic is right behind pulling down 111 total rebounds (3.8 rpg).
  • Latimer is the front runner for assist and steals with 121 assists and 37 steals. Junior Julio Phipps has recorded a total of 18 blocks on the season.
  • The Eagles shoot 45.3% from the field, 33.3% from behind the arch and 71.0% from the charity stripe.
SOUTH DAKOTA MINES MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE WEEKEND| 2024-25 STATS
  • The Hardrockers are coming off a split weekend. Dropping to RMAC opponent Adams State University (102-81) then defeating to RMAC opponent New Mexico Highlands (84-77).
  • SDM goes into the weekend with an overall record of 4-20 and a conference record of 4-12. They average 56 points, 27 rebounds, 9 assists, 11.3 turnovers, 5.3 steals, and 1.7 blocks per game.  
  • Freshman Tre Dowdell paces the offense with 262 total points, averaging 11.9 ppg. Right behind him is senior Keagan Smith with 258 points (10.8 ppg), then redshirt sophomore Abel Hutchinson with 214 points (8.9 ppg).
  • Smith leads SDM in rebounds with 128 total (5.3 rpg), sophomore Guido Wanschelbaum is right behind pulling down 98 total rebounds (4.1 rpg).
  • Hutchinson is the front runner for assist with 49. Smith leads in steals with 36. Redshirt junior Jasper Reinalda has accumulated 12 blocks on the season.
  • The Hardrockers shoot 40.3% from the field, 33.0% from behind the arch and 73.9% from the charity stripe.
