Gunnison, Colo.,  Western Colorado sophomore guard
Aidan McDowell has been named the RMAC Offensive Player of the Week following a spectacular opening stretch.
McDowell was nothing short of dominant in Western's first two games of the season. Across the opening weekend, he averaged 33.0 points, 5.0 rebounds, 5.0 assists, and 2.0 steals per game while shooting at an elite level. His full stat line from the first two contests underscores why he separated himself from every other RMAC performer:
- Â 66 total points (33.0 PPG)
- 22–36 FG (.611)
- 9–17 from three (.529)
- 13–13 FT (100%)
- 10 rebounds (5.0 RPG)
- 10 assists (5.0 APG)
- 2 steals
- 33.2 minutes per game
- Only 4 fouls committed
McDowell not only led Western in scoring—he carried the offensive load with ruthless efficiency, attacking off the dribble, hitting deep threes, and converting every free-throw attempt he earned. His playmaking stood out just as much as his scoring, as he dished out 10 assists against just 10 turnovers, showing composure and maturity rare for an underclassman guard.
Defensively, McDowell added two steals and consistently initiated transition opportunities. His ability to rebound from the guard position helped stabilize Western's pace and kept possessions alive in crucial moments.
For a former Crete High School standout now stepping into a starring collegiate role, McDowell's RMAC Player of the Week selection is both a milestone and a preview of what's ahead. With Western Colorado building momentum, McDowell's early-season eruption positions him as one of the conference's must-watch players and a potential All-RMAC threat if he maintains this level of production.
The Mountaineers return to action this week for their home opener, and with McDowell leading the charge, the team will aim to turn his individual brilliance into the program's first win of the season.
