GUNNISON, Colo. Mountaineer soccer hosts a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponents over the upcoming Homecoming Weekend, welcoming Adams State University and then New Mexico Highlands University to Western's Katy O. Rady Field on Thursday and Sunday, respectively.
Thursday's game against Adams State is the team's annual Pink Out game, and Sunday's will serve as the program's Senior Day game.
WESTERN COLORADO HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2025 Stats
- The Mountaineers are 0-9-2 overall and 0-2-2 in RMAC action, but they have notched both of their draws within the last four outings and the two losses were to nationally ranked teams.
- The draws came against CSU Pueblo (2-2) and Westminster University (1-1), and both games saw a deflection off a Mountaineer defender giving the opposing team one goal.
- Though Western is being outshot 181-141 overall over its 11 games, the Mountaineers have been creating slight edges in control in its attacking third, posting 50 corner kick opportunities, five more than all their opponents have accumulated.
- Natsuki Murakami continues to lead the team in goals, with three, and points (six), while six other Mountaineers have scored once each, including Sarah Connolly who has added two assists.
- Ashlyn Fitzpatrick has taken hold of the space between the pipes, logging nearly 700 minutes in goal for Western. She's made 42 saves and enters the weekend with a 0.646 save percentage.
- Western is 9-6-1 all time against Adams State and 6-5-1 overall against N.M. Highlands.
ADAMS STATE COMING INTO THE GAME | 2025 Stats
- The Grizzlies are 6-1 overall and 2-1 in the RMAC, with their conference wins coming in their most recent two outings, 2-1 wins over both Black Hills State and against Colorado Christian.
- While ASU has produced the exact same number of shots as has Western (141), it has limited opponents to just a cumulative total of 53 shots this season. And its 67 shots on goal dwarfs the 29 its allowed.
- Fatso Williams and Grace Abbott have been the driving force in the attacking end, combining for 12 of the team's 17 total goals. Williams has found the back of the net seven time, with four game winners, while Abbott has scored five times with one game-winning goal.
- Ashlyn Bartley has played all but 16 minutes in goal for ASU this season, making 22 saves and posting a 0.786 save percentage and a measly 0.68 goals against average.
N.M. HIGHLANDS ENTERING THE GAME | 2025 Stats
- The Cowgirls play at Fort Lewis College before taking on the Mountaineers Sunday afternoon. They enter the weekend with a 1-6 overall record and a 0-3 mark in RMAC action.
- NMHU has dropped five in a row, including being held without a goal in four of those. The cumulative goal total in those five losses sees a 20-1 advantage for Cowgirl opponents.
- Scoring three goals all season, the scoring strikes have been by three different players as Kate Rayner, Ninon Rigal and Lina Villanueva each have one marker apiece. Villanueva's was the game-winning goal in a 1-0 win over host Sul Ross State in the second game of the season.
- Four different goalkeepers have seen at least one half of action for the Cowgirls. The group comes into the weekend surrendering a goals against average of 3.14 while accumulating 33 saves.
