HOW IT HAPPENED
Western Colorado came out hot with a 4–0 start fueled by two aces from Liv Marshall and kills from Anuhea Kaalele. The Mountaineers' offense was sharp, hitting .326 in the set with 17 kills. Breanna Nohava and Kaalele combined for six early points at the net, while Olive Rolseth added two late kills to help seal the opener 25–17.
Adams State responded with cleaner execution, turning a tight 10–10 score into control midway through the set. Hadleigh Richardson and Olivia Lunt powered the attack, while Western struggled with five service errors. Despite Marshall's late ace and Kaalele's consistent setting, Adams State closed it out 25–21 to even the match.
The Grizzlies took early command behind strong serving from Katie Bauer and back-to-back aces to build a 5–0 lead. Western fought back with kills from Kaalele and Rolseth, but Adams State's balanced offense—led by Richardson's six kills in the frame—kept the Mountaineers from regaining momentum. Western hit .250 but couldn't close the gap, dropping the set 25–20.
Adams State controlled the final set from the start, taking advantage of Western's four attack errors and three service errors. Kaalele and Robins each contributed multiple kills to keep Western within reach, but Adams State's front line, paced by Richardson and Lunt, finished the match on a 6–2 run to take the set 25–18 and the 3–1 victory.
