DENVERÂ Western Colorado soccer makes its longest road trip of the season with its next two games, taking on Regis University in Denver before leaving the state for the first time this season when they continue on to Spearfish, S.D., to challenge Black Hills State in a weekend of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference games.
WESTERN COLORADO HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2025 Stats
- The Mountaineers sit in ninth place in the league standings with a 1-3-3 RMAC record and a 1-10-3 overall record.
- Heading into the weekend Western takes a two-game winning streak into Denver against Regis. The Rangers had defeated the Mountaineers the first 10 times the teams had played before Western turned the tables in 2024 with a 3-2 at the Regis Turf Fields.
- Conversely, the Mountaineers had a 6-1 record against BHSU heading into last seasons' game, including a three-game win streak, before the Yellow Jackets pulled out a 3-1 win in Gunnison.
- Of Western's 13 goals on the season, Natsuki Murakami has scored 4 of them, while Catilin Mazurek and Cianna Thomas each have two goals apiece.
- Thomas' first-half goal in Western's 3-0 win over N.M. Highlands proved to be the game-winning goal.
- Ashlyn Fitzpatrick has seen the most time in goal for Western (790 minutes played), but Aubree Orosco has added more time in frame recently (360 MP), including making nine saves in the win over N.M. Highlands.
- Fitzpatrick for the season has made 45 saves in nine games, with Orosco coming up with 20 saves in her four games.
REGIS HEADING INTO THE GAME | 2025 Stats
- The Rangers enter Friday evening's game with an 8-2-4 overall record and a 4-1-3 mark in RMAC play. Their lone conference loss was a 3-0 defeat at then-No. 15 UC Colorado Springs, and in the two games since, played to 1-1 draws against MSU Denver and against Colorado Christian.
- Regis has doubled up opponents in season goals, 26-13, in large part to Natalie Bunch, who leads the team with nine goals and an assist, with one game-winning tally.
- She's not the only threat, however, as Fernanda Rodriguez has five goals and six assists, with two game-winners, and Elsa Nolen has accounted for six goals and three assists, with three game-winning markers.
- Helen Stegner has scene the majority of time in goal for the Rangers, playing 835 minutes and posting a 7-2-3 record. She's allowed 11 goals and made 55 saves during her time on the end line.
BLACK HILLS STATE HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2025 Stats
- After winning their opening RMAC game, 2-1 over N.M. Highlands, the Yellow Jackets have not won and conference matchup since, registering a 1-5-2 league record and a 4-6-4 overall record.
- They have, though, played to 1-1 draws in their last two outings, and just like Regis, against Colorado Christian and MSU Denver.
- Prior to Sunday's game against the Mountaineers, BHSU will host Fort Lewis College on Friday night.
- The Yellow Jackets have been outscored by their opponents by a cumulative count of 16-18, but have reeled off 208 shots to just 147 by opponents. The numbers are more equal in shots that make it on frame, 78-73.
