INDIANAPOLIS  The NCAA on Wednesday released the list of qualifiers for the 2024 Division II Women's Swimming and Diving Championship meet, a lineup that includes Western Colorado's Morgan Nielsen.

The freshman qualified 15th in the 1,650-yard freestyle but will also get to swim the 1,000 free and 500 free events in the championship meet at the SPIRE Institute Aquatic Center in Geneva, Ohio, on March 12-16.

Nielsen had posted NCAA B (provisional) qualifying times in all three events with her performance at the 2024 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Championships on Feb. 13-17. Earning inclusion in one event allows Nielsen to swim all events in which she achieved provisional time standards.

Setting school records with each swim at the RMAC meet, Nielsen earned her first provisional time in the 1,000, posting a time of 10 minutes, 26.69 seconds in placing fourth in the championship heat final on Day 2 of the meet.

She set a school record and collected another provisional time on Day 4, finishing her morning preliminaries heat with time of 5:04.80 before coming back in the evening to finish eighth in the championship heat.

Day 5 of the meet brought another podium finish for Nielsen as she raced to a third-place finish in the championship final of the 1,650 with a time of 17:17.17, shattering by 29 seconds the school record she'd set earlier in the season.

Nielsen is scheduled to swim in the preliminary heats of the 1,000 on Wed., March 13, the 500 on Fri., Match 15, and the 1,650 on Sat., March 16.

The most recent participant at the national championship meet from the Mountaineer program was Savannah Tice, who swam in two events at the 2021 meet. Tice owns the school records in the 100 and 200 backstroke events.
