Gunnison, Colo.,   The Western Colorado Men's Basketball team travels to Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference opponent MSU Denver on Thursday December 12th at 8pm. Then proceeds to Regis on Saturday December 14 at 3pm for another RMAC game.
 
WESTERN COLORADO MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2024-25 STATS
  • WCU comes off a spilt week, defeating Colorado Christian University 83-77 then dropping to Colorado State University Pueblo 69-59. The Mountaineers go into the weekend with an overall record of 2-5 and a conference record of 1-1.
  • In the game versus that Cougars, senior Amar Rivers led the Mountaineer offense with 17 points, going 4-6 from the charity stripe, 75% (6-8) from the field, and 100% (1-1) from behind the arch. Sophomore Tyler Halligan finished with 16 points, going 5-8 from the field, 4-6 from three and 2-2 from the free throw line. Seniors Kade Juelfs and Trey Anderson put up double-figures, respectfully with 13 and 11.
  • Hollins paced the boards with 6. Rivers followed with 4, then Halligan, Juelfs, Anderson and Reichart each pulling down 3.
  • Western Colorado earned 28 of their points in the paint, had 34 bench points, 13 points off turnovers and 13 second chance points.
  • The Mountaineers shot 55.1% from the field, 50% from three and 63% from the charity stripe.
  • Against CSU-Pueblo, Juelfs led the Mountaineer offense with 14 points, going 5-10 from the field and 4-7 from behind the arch. Halligan followed with 13, Rivers had 8 and Leick contributed 6. Hollins finished with 5 assists and a steal. Rivers earned 3 steals and 2 assists.
  • Hollins and Rivers each grabbed 7 boards, followed by Leick who had 6 then Anderson with 5.
  • WCU shot 32.8% from the field, 29.2% from behind the arch and 72.7% from the charity stripe.
  • The Mountaineers earned 16 bench points, 13 points off turnovers, 24 points in the paint and 12 second chance points.
  • Juelfs leads the Mountaineer offense with 100 total points (14.3 ppg). Halligan is right behind with 97 total points (13.9 ppg). They are followed by Rivers, 77 total points (11 ppg), Reichart, 53 total points (7.6 ppg), then Leick 41 total points (5.9 ppg).
  • Hollins is the front runner for rebounds with 44 total (6.3 rpg) and assists with 15 total. Rivers has pulled down 35 total boards (5 rpg) and contributed 10 assists. Reichart has recorded 31 total rebounds so far this season (4.4 rpg).
  • Buckmon has recorded double digits in both assists and steals with 13 in both categories. Rivers has earned 7 blocks while senior Trey Anderson has accumulated 5.
  • WCU averages 71.3 ppg. They shoot 45% from the field, 31.8% from behind the arch, and 59.8% from the free throw line.
 
MSU DENVER MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2024-25 STATS
  • The Roadrunners are on a four-game win streak, most recently defeating Fort Lewis 65-48 and Adams State 90-79.
  • MSU goes into the weekend with an overall record 7-1 and a conference record of 2-0. They average 79.9 points, 38.1 rebounds, 13.5 assists, 15 turnovers, 6 steals, and 2.3 blocks per game.  
  • Senior Caleb McGill paces the offense with 118 total points, averaging 14.8 ppg. Right behind him is senior Brayden Carter with 117 points (14.6 ppg), then redshirt junior Jamil Safieddine with 77 points (11 ppg).
  • McGill leads MSU in rebounds with 74 total (9.3 rpg). Carter has pulled down 56 total rebounds (7 rpg). Senior KJ Garrett is the front runner for assist with 21 total.
  • The Roadrunners shoot 49.7% from the field, 37.1% from behind the arch and 76.2% from the charity stripe.
 
REGIS UNIVERISTY MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2024-25 STATS
  • The Rangers are coming off two wins, defeating New Mexico Highlands 96-85 and Fort Lewis 90-89. Their next contest is Thursday December 12 as they host RMAC opponent Colorado Mesa University.
  • RU goes into the weekend with an overall record 4-4 and a conference record of 2-0. They average 73.9 points, 32.8 rebounds, 15.5 assists, 13.9 turnovers, 4.9 steals, and 3.4 blocks per game.  
  • Junior Chase Mayo Harmon paces the offense with 126 total points, averaging 15.8 ppg. Right behind him is sophomore Jalen Brown with 106 points (13.3 ppg), then graduate student Eddy Egun with 85 points (10.6 ppg).
  • Sophomore Ty Cox leads RU in rebounds with 42 total (5.3 rpg). Senior Chi Achara has pulled down 37 total rebounds (4.6 rpg).
  • The Rangers shoot 46.9% from the field, 3.47% from behind the arch and 70.1% from the charity stripe.
