Gunnison, Colo.,   The Western Colorado Men's Basketball hosts non conference opponent Northwest Indian College on Thursday December 19 at 6pm for the last game of 2024.
 
WESTERN COLORADO MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2024-25 STATS
  • WCU comes off a split week, dropping to Metropolitan State University Denver 81-64 then defeating Regis University 76-75. The Mountaineers go into the weekend with an overall record of 3-6 and an RMAC record of 2-2.
  • In the game versus MSU Denver, senior Amar Rivers earned 17 points, going 5-8 from the field and 4-7 from three. He combined his points with 4 rebounds, 2 assists, a steal and 3 blocks. Senior Trey Anderson followed in points with 14 going 4-7 from behind the arch, senior Kade Juelfs put up 12, with 3 steals, 2 assists and 3 rebounds. Junior Andrew Reichart also finished with double digits with 10. Junior Jamel Hollins led the Mountaineers on the boards with 8 and assists with 4.
  • The Mountaineers shot 41.5% from the field, 29.6% from behind the arch and 25% from the charity stripe.
  • WCU finished with more assists then MSU 15-13. Western earned 21 bench points, 13 fast break points, 34 points in the paint and 6 second chance points.
  • Against Regis, Anderson led the Mountaineers offense with 21-points, going 8-16 from the field and 4-10 from behind the arch. Rivers followed with 17, shooting 7-11 from inside the arch, 1-1 from three and hit the last second winning bucket. Hollins finished with 10 and Juelfs with 9.
  • Reichart pulled down 6 boards and contributed 7 points. Hollins brought down 5, followed by Juelfs and sophomore Tyler Halligan each with 4.
  • Senior Spencer Wright helped his teammates score, recording 5 assists.
  • The Mountaineers shot 46% from the field, 29.2 from three and 61.1 from the charity stripe.
  • WCU has 31 bench points, 9 fast break points, 42 points in the paint, and 17 second chance points.
  • Juelfs leads the Mountaineer offense with 121 total points (13.4 ppg). Rivers is right behind with 111 total points (12.3 ppg). They are followed by Halligan, 101 total points (11.2 ppg), Reichart, 70 total points (7.8 ppg), then Anderson 68 total points (7.6 ppg).
  • Hollins is the front runner for rebounds with 57 total (6.3 rpg) and second in assists with 19 total. Rivers has pulled down 42 total boards (4.7 rpg) and contributed 13 assists. Reichart has recorded 38 total rebounds so far this season (4.4 rpg).
  • Buckmon has recorded double digits in both assists and steals. Leading WCU in assists with 21 and earning 14 steals. Rivers has earned 10 blocks while Anderson has accumulated 7.
  • WCU averages 71 ppg. They shoot 44.7% from the field, 31.2% from behind the arch, and 58.2% from the free throw line.

  • NWIC goes into the weekend averaging 40.5 points, 31.8 rebounds, 10.5 assists, 18.3 turnovers, 4 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game.  
  • Junior Mycole Rodriguez paces the offense with 34 total points, averaging 8.5 ppg. Right behind him is, sophomore Delwyn Holthusen with 22 points (11 ppg) then freshman Tyasin Burns with 28 points (7 ppg).
  • Holthusen leads NWIC in rebounds with 17 total (5.7 rpg). Rodrigues has pulled down 17 total rebounds (4.3 rpg). Burns is the front runner in assists with 14, averaging 3.5 per game.
  • The Eagles shoot 26.4% from the field, 17.5% from behind the arch and 51.7% from the charity stripe.
