Gunnison, Colo.,   The Western Colorado Men's Basketball hosts Justice College for their home opener on Friday November 22 at 6pm in Paul Wright Gym.
 
WESTERN COLORADO MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE GAME | 2024-25 STATS
  • The Mountaineers are coming off two road losses to Loan Star opponents, Midwestern State University 81-67, and Cameron University 85-72.
  • WCU enters the contest with an overall record of 0-3.
  • Against MSU, Senior Amar Rivers lead the offense, putting up 15 points alongside a steal and three rebounds. Junior Ty Buckmon and sophomore Tyler Halligan both recorded 14 points. Buckmon also grabbed 5 rebounds and earned 4 steals and 3 assists. Seniors Kade Juelfs and Trey Anderson were contributors putting up 8 and 7 points, respectfully.  
  • Junior Jamel Hollins grabbed 3 rebounds and put up 4 points while junior Andrew Reichart earned 5 boards.
  • The Mountaineer bench earned 26 points. WCU went 43.8% from the field and 33.3% from the three-point line.
  • In the contest versus CU, four Mountaineers finished in double-digits, Juelfs (19), Halligan (13), Rivers (13) going 5-5 from the charity stripe, Reichart (12). Buckmon earned 6, Hollins with 5 and junior Trevin Lieck with 3. Buckmon led in steals with 3 and assists with 2.
  • Halligan led the Mountaineers in rebounds with 6. Buckmon, Rivers, and Reichart each pulled down 4. Halligan and Rivers each recorded a block.
  • WCU shot 45.3% from the field, 58.8% from three, had 19 bench points, 8 second chance points and 15 points off turnovers.
  • Halligan and Rivers pace the offense with 38 total points, averaging 12.7 ppg. Juelfs is behind the two with a total of 33 points and an 11-point average.
  • Hollins is the front-runner for rebounds with 18 total, averaging 8 per game. Reichart follows with a total of 14 and averaging 4.7 per game.
  • Buckmon leads in assists and steals with 8 in each category. Anderson and Rivers have recorded 3 blocks each.
  • The team shoots 42.6% from the field, 25% from behind the arch, 49% from the charity stripe and averages 67.33 total points per game.
JUSTICE COLLEGE MEN'S BASKETBALL GOING INTO THE GAME | 2024-25 STATS
  • Justice College enters the game with an overall record of 1-6.
  • Vanti Erving Jr. leads the scoring with a total of 76 points, averaging 15.20 points per game. Right behind him is Mandell Campbell with 52 total and 7.43 ppg.
  • Kareem Parks averages 2 assists a game with 14 total. Kingdom Artis has recorded 15 15 steals on the year so far.
  • Kingdom Artis paces the boards with 31 total rebounds and 4.43 rpg. Erving is a close second with 22 total rebounds averaging 4.40 rpg.
