- Western struck first, going up 3-0. The Roadrunners evened the score at 4-4. There were three more ties within the next few rallies. The score at 7-7, MSU won the draw and took a 9-7 edge. The Mountaineers answered back regaining the lead 10-9. A 12-12 tie then the Roadrunners went on a six-point run 18-12. WCU put up three more, but MSU took set on 25-15.
- Another 3-0 edge for WCU began set two. The Mountaineers were on a roll, going up 8-2 then 9-3. MSU started adding to their score getting within a score 11-10. A back-and-forth battle, the Mountaineers continued their lead 18-16. The Roadrunners tied the score, then grasped the lead 19-18. Another lead change, in favor of WCU 21-19. A close set to the very end, points traded and the score at 25-25. MSU was able to secure the final two points, taking set two 27-25.
- An extremely competitive set started with the respective teams' trading points and lead changes. Western earned a two-point advantage 11-9 then 12-10. MSU earned three in a row to hold a 13-12 advantage. The Mountaineers quickly took control back 14-13. WCU was able to record a few more points but the Roadrunners offense was powerful. MSU took set three 25-17 and the match 3-0.
