GUNNISON, Colo.  Looking to climb up the standings in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, Western Colorado soccer will host Regis University and Black Hills State University on Friday and Sunday, respectively, as the Mountaineers vie for points to move up into a postseason tournament position.

WESTERN COLORADO HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2024 Stats
  • At 2-3-2 in the conference, Western (3-7-3 overall) has 8 points in the standings, one point behind eighth-place UC Colorado Springs. The top eight teams in the final regular season standings qualify for the RMAC tournament.
  • The Mountaineers defeated host Regis last year, 3-2, for the first time in program history, scoring more than one goal against the Rangers for the first time since 2013.
  • Western has won the last three meetings against Black Hills State, recording a 2-0 shutout in Spearfish, S.D., last season.
  • Cianna Thomas and Ellie Kubena are multiple-goal scorers for Western, Thomas with three goals and one game-winner and Kubena with two goals and one game-winning goal.

  • Regis currently sits fourth in the league with a 4-3-1 RMAC record for 13 points in the standings. Overall the Rangers are 5-7-2 on the season.
  • The bulk of Regis' total of 18 goals this season have come from Madeline Gardner and Natalie Bunch. Gardner has netted five goals and two game-winners, while Bunch has four goals.

  • The Yellow Jackets (2-8-4, 2-5-1 RMAC) will play Friday at Fort Lewis College before Sunday's game at Western.
  • Both of Black Hills State's wins this season have come against RMAC opponents — a 5-0 shutout of visiting New Mexico Highlands on Oct. 11 and a 4-2 win over visiting Adams State two days later.
  • The Yellow Jackets are 0-6-2 away from their home turf in Spearfish.
  • They have surrendered 33 goals on the year while scoring 14 for a 1.00 goals per game mark.
