SALT LAKE CITYÂ Western soccer continues its Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schedule on Friday at host Westminster University before returning home for a Sunday afternoon home match against 22nd-ranked Colorado Mesa University.
WESTERN COLORADO HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2024 Stats
- The Mountaineers sit in a sixth-place tie with Westminster in the league standings, Friday's winner earning a leg up toward the chase for postseason RMAC tournament berth.
- Suffering its first RMAC defeat in the last outing, a loss to No. 1 Colorado School of Mines, Western sits at 2-1-2 in league play, earning 8 points in the conference standings. Its overall record heading into the weekend doubleheader is 3-5-3.
- The Mountaineers have only defeated Westminster once in program history, a 2-0 win in 2017, and are 1-6-1 overall against the Griffins. Western is 2-12-2 against Colorado Mesa, the most recent win coming in a 1-0 shutout of the Mavs in 2015.
- Averaging 1 goal per game, the Mountaineer scoring attack is led by Cianna Thomas with three goals and Ellie Kubena with two. Each have one game-winning goal to their credit.

- Averaging 1.8 goals per game, Westminster has shown to be stingy in its defensive third, allowing just 7 goals for a rate of just 0.78 per game.
- It's also allowed just 58 total shots and only 30 shots on goal.
- Goalie Brooklyn Northcutt, with nine starts, has enjoyed the stinginess of the defense that plays in front of her. Northcutt registers a paltry 0.60 GAA and has needed to make just 22 saves in 746 minutes on the field.
- The Griffins attack is paced by Necie Gubler and Chloe Pickett who each have netted four goals and two assists.

COLORADO MESA HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2024 Stats
- The Mavericks entered the United Soccer Coaches D-II rankings this week, moving into the No. 22 position with a 7-1-2 overall record and an unbeaten 5-0 mark in RMAC play.
- Their lone loss of the season came against St. Edwards (Texas) by a 2-0 count, the same score by which St. Edwards defeated Western early in the season.
- Since that defeat the Mavs have won five straight and outscored their opponents by a cumulative 13-1 goal count.
- Like Westminster, the CMU defense has been solid, allowing just eight goals on the year, only 31 shots on goal and a total of 64 shots.
- Keely Wieczorek has played every minute in goal for the Mavs, earning five shutouts to go along with a 0.80 GAA. She's made 23 saves over the course of her 10 starts.
- Five players have scored multiple goals for CMU, with Sauvelyne Randel leading the way with five goals and one game-winner. Abby Fotheringham has netted four goals—three of which have been game-winners.
- Mesa hosts Fort Lewis College in an RMAC match on Friday before making the trip to Katy O. Rady Field for Sunday's game.
