GUNNISON, Colo. Western Colorado earned their second conference win of the season with a 79-72 win over Colorado State University Pueblo. The Mountaineers were down by just two at half and then had a dominant second half to secure the victory.

HOW IT HAPPENED

The Mountaineers took the lead 18 seconds into the second half with a three-pointer by Avery Rembao followed by a layup from Kade Juelfs to put them ahead by three. The ThunderWolves then tied it at 36 with a three-pointer by Brevin Walter. De'Shaun Cooper then gave his team the lead with a dunk after a defensive rebound and assist from Makiah Morris. That would not stop the Mountaineers as Spencer Wright registered a three-pointer 10 seconds later.

Western Colorado would continue to find the basket and collect a six-point lead with 16 minutes and 28 seconds on the clock. The Pack did not make it easy for the Mountaineers at the pulled within three and then eventually took a two-point lead. Christian Still put the Mountaineers up with a jumper from inside the paint.

From that point forward the momentum of the game was in favor of the Mountaineers. The team would not fall behind the rest of the game and dominated from the floor, making 51% of their shots. Fifteen of Kade Juelfs' 22 points came in the 2nd half.

In the first half, the Mountaineers scored first as Juelfs went to the free-throw line 35 seconds into the game. Cooper then made a layup in the paint to tie the game. The Mountaineers and ThunderWolves would see eight lead changes throughout the game and five times that the score was tied. Still led the Mountaineers in the first half with eight points followed by Juelfs with seven points. Morris and Armon Muldrew finished the first half for CSU Pueblo with eight points apiece.

Kade Juelfs led the Mountaineers with 22 points, going 6-for-11 from the field and 8-for-10 from the free-throw line. Avery Rembao (14 points) and Christian Still (11 points) also scored in double-digits for the Mountaineers. As a team, Western Colorado shot 47% from the field and 39% from three-point range throughout the night.

Defensively, the Mountaineers had seven team rebounds, while Amar Rivers led with six rebounds individually including five defensive boards.
