RAPID CITY, S.D. Western Colorado will head to South Dakota to face South Dakota Mines on Friday, January 12 with tip off slated for 7:30 p.m. They will then make the trip to Spearfish, S.D. to take on Black Hills State on Saturday, Jan. 13 at 6 p.m.
In last season's lone contest against South Dakota Mines the Mountaineers were able to capture an 81-79 win at home and will look to continue their success against the Hardrockers Friday night. Against the Yellow Jackets, Western Colorado took a 78-73 loss last season despite putting up 40-points in the second half.
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2023-24 Stats

The Mountaineers (4-8, 1-5 RMAC) are looking to bounce back after falling to UCCS 83-60 last weekend. Kade Juelfs and Avery Rembao both registered 15 points in the contest, where Western Colorado shot 40% from the field. Western Colorado is averaging 61.6 points per game this season while shooting 41% from the field.

The duo of Juelfs and Rembao continue to lead the Mountaineers' offense combining for 22.0 points per game. Spencer Wright shot 54% from the field in 11 games, while averaging 3.5 points per game.

Defensively, Jamel Hollins leads Western Colorado with 5.9 rebounds per game, which is tied for eighth in the conference. The sophomore also has seven steals and three blocks on the season. Amar Rivers leads the Mountaineers with eight blocks that is tied for 15th in the RMAC.
HARDROCKERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2023-24 Stats

The Hardrockers (5-9, 3-5 RMAC) are coming off a pair of losses to Adams State and Fort Lewis last weekend. South Dakota Mines averages72.1 points per game compared to their opponents which are averaging 73.9 points per game.

Alejandro Rama and Cameron Cohn are leading the Hardrockers with 18.5 and 18.4 points per game, respectively. Both players are individually shooting 42% from the field and 35% from beyond the arc.

Defensively, Keagan Smith is leading his team with 5.1 rebounds per game and 12 steals. He is also recording two blocks.

Black Hills State (6-7, 4-3 RMAC) is coming off a weekend split where it claimed a 90-87 win over Adams State and a 75-70 loss to Fort Lewis.

Former Mountaineer Matthew Ragsdale has continued to dominate for the Yellow Jackets this season with a conference leading 21.2 points per game, while shooting 51% from the field. Ragsdale has scored 20 or more points in four of his last five games including scoring a career-high 32 points twice.

Caelin Hearne and Hoku Fisher are also big scoring threats for BHSU with Hearne averaging 14.5 points per contest while making 57% of his shots. Fisher has scored double-digits in three consecutive games, averaging 13.3 points per game in that span.
