GUNNISON, Colo.  The Mountaineers are welcoming Adams State and New Mexico Highlands to scenic Katy O. Rady Field for a pair of Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's soccer matches.

WESTERN COLORADO HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2023 Stats
  • Western has started the year 0-5-2 overall and 0-1 in the conference, but history might be on its side as it takes on a Grizzlies squad that it owns an 8-5-1 record against (since 2012) and a Cowgirls team that it defeated 5-0 last season.
  • Included in Western's winning record against Adams State is a seven-game winning streak (2014-19, twice in 2015), and within its 5-5 historical record against Highlands is a four-match winning streak (2016-19).
  • The Mountaineer attack has been slow to get rolling in the early part of the season, scoring 0.71 goals per game and generating a total of 30 shots on goal through seven outings. Opponents are averaging 1.71 goals per contest and have accumulated 49 shots on goal.
  • Caileen Sienknecht has scored twice, both in the same game, to lead the offense, while three others—Luci Gulbransen, Reece Mercer, and Natsuki Murakami—have netted one goal apiece.
  • In goal for nearly every minute is Mei Hayashizaki who has logged 585 minutes of a possible 630 minutes between the pipes. Hayashizaki is carrying a 1.69 goals against average into the weekend and had accumulated 32 saves.
ADAMS STATE HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2023 Stats
  • The Grizzlies enter the weekend with a 1-4-2 mark overall, and an 0-2 record in RMAC action. Those conference losses were against Westminster (0-3) and Colorado Mesa (0-1), while the lone victory was a 3-0 win over Oklahoma Panhandle State.
  • Similar to the Mountaineers, Adams State is also looking for more offense. It's been outscored 9-6 this season with a shots on goal deficit of 39-27.
  • Karlee Caballero three goals are exactly half of the six the team has scored. However, the sole game-winning marker this season was from Brissa Toribio, her only goal, in the victory over Oklahoma Panhandle.
  • The majority of the goalkeeping duties have been from Ashlyn Bartley who has started six of the seven games. She's accrued a 1-3-2 record over 496 minutes, averages 1.09 goals against and has 26 saves.
N.M. HIGHLANDS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | 2023 Stats
  • The Cowgirls are seeking their first win of the season, entering a Friday contest at Fort Lewis College with a 0-5-1 record and a 0-2 mark in the RMAC. Their draw was in a 2-2 game with Northwestern Oklahoma State. They, too, have been defeated by both Colorado Mesa and Westminster.
  • Highlands has scored just four goals this season while surrendering 23, a rate of 3.83 per game.
  • Paige Gowen has two goals on the year while two teammates have notched one apiece.
  • It has been a split between two players in goal for the Cowgirls. Peyton Greener (0-3-0) has four starts and logged 303 minutes, while Parker Frei (0-2-1) has the other starts and been on the line for 236 minutes. The duo have combined to come up with 51 saves.
UP NEXT
The Mountaineers will take to the road for their next two RMAC contests, squaring off against CSU Pueblo on Oct. 6, followed by a match at Colorado School of Mines on Oct. 8.
