INDIANAPOLIS  Western Colorado divers Alexandra Wallis and Meredith Clabaugh finished 37th and 39th, respectively, on the 1-meter board Tuesday morning at the NCAA Division II Diving Qualification Meet at the Indiana University Indianapolis Natatorium.

The pair earned berths in the qualifying meet in just their first years of collegiate competition.

Tuesday's meet serves as the official qualifier for the national championship, which begins Tuesday night with the 800-yard freestyle relays of the swimming events. The remainder of the meet schedule is spread out from Wednesday through Saturday evening's championship finals session.

Advancement from the diving qualifier Tuesday requires placing within the top 22 places after the event's six optional dives.

Wallis posted a total score of 148.60 points. She earned her highest single dive score in the fifth round, accumulating 37.95 points on her back somersault, one-and-a-half twists, in the free position.

Clabaugh scored 120.10 total points. Her highest point total came on her opening dive, a forward, double somersault in the tuck position, scoring 34.10 on the dive.
