GUNNISON, Colo. Western Colorado will look to build on their recent win on Saturday and send their seniors out on a strong note, when they take on Colorado Mesa University and Westminster College.
 
LAST MATCHUP
  • On Thursday (Jan. 26) the Mountaineers took on Westminster College on the road and fell 68-80 and then two days later (Jan. 28), Western faced Colorado Mesa University and fell 46-82. 
KEY PLAYERS
Mountaineers
  • Avery Rembao has shouldered the scoring load for Western this season, averaging 18.2-points (tied for seventh in RMAC) in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference (RMAC) contest. Rembao also leads the team in field goal percentage, making 39.6 percent (23rd in RMAC). At the free throw line, Robel Desta leads the team shooting 76.8 percent (14th in RMAC) and a few spots down, Rembao makes 76.1 percent (16th in RMAC).
  • Currently tied for eighth in the RMAC in rebounding, Gino Corridori grabs 6.3 rebounds and Desta helps out grabbing 5.9 boards (tied for tenth in RMAC).
Mavericks
  • Leading the way for Colorado Mesa on offense, Blaise Threatt averages 19.3-points (fifth in RMAC) and gets help from Trevor Baskin who averages 12.9-points (tied for 21st in RMAC). Threatt also leads the team in field goal and free throw percentage, making 53.9 percent from the field (fourth in RMAC) and 74 percent from the line (19th in RMAC). Right behind him in both categories is Baskin, who makes 52.7 percent from the field (sixth in RMAC) and sinks 70.1 percent from the line (22nd in RMAC).
  • On the defensive end, Baskin leads the team in rebounding and blocked shots, grabbing 7.6 rebounds in RMAC contest (fourth in RMAC) and blocking one shot per game (foruth in RMAC). Threatt also is active on the glass grabbing 5.1 boards (tied for 17th in RMAC). Mac Riniker is also a factor on defense, blocking 0.8 shots (tied for eighth in RMAC) and recordings team high 1.7 steals (tied for third in RMAC). Threatt and Isaac Jessup also have active hands when defending, picking up 1.5 (fifth in RMAC) and 1.3 steals (seventh in RMAC).
Griffins
  • Trey Farrer and Taylor Miller have been the top scorers for Westminster this season averaging 18.2 (seventh in RMAC) and 14.1-points (16th in RMAC). Farrer also leads the team in field goal and free throw percentage shooting, making 58.4 percent from the field (third in RMAC) and 77.6 percent from the line (13th in RMAC). Donaval Avila and Miller are also solid shooters, making 51.7 percent (eighth in RMAC) and 47.9 percent (16th in RMAC) from the field. From beyond the arc, Jeremy DowDell leads the team sinking 41.4 percent (eighth in RMAC).
  • Similar to the offensive end, Farrer leads the team in rebounding and blocked shots grabbing 7.1 rebounds (tied for sixth in RMAC) and sending back 0.9 shots (tied for fifth in RMAC). Avilia is a few spots down when it comes to rebounding recording 5.6 boards (tied for 13th in RMAC). Gabe Olivera is also a solid on ball defender, blocking 0.6 shots which is tied for eighth in the RMAC. Rounding things out, Miller leads the RMAC in steals picking two pockets per game.
