Rachel Cockman posted a double-double for Western Colorado, but host Chadron State College scored the final seven points of the game to rally for a 55-49 win in Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference women's basketball action on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Mountaineers trailed by four points at the halftime break, but began the third quarter with an 8-2 run that wrested the lead away from the Eagles.
- Brooklyn Seymour started the string with a 3-pointer from the top of the arc, Rachel Cockman followed up a defensive rebound with a layup and free throw at the other end, and she mirrored those actions again with another defensive board and a turnaround jumper from in the paint to give Western its first lead, 26-24, since the 9:49 mark of the first quarter.
- The rest of the quarter relied on similar runs from each team – Chadron rallying back with a 7-0 spurt but Western answering with a 6-0 run – until an Erika Lane 3-pointer and a driving layup on the next possession allowed the Mountaineers to own a 39-35 advantage heading into the final frame.
- Chadron erased that deficit with one free throw and a trey from Allison Olsen, but Jayda Maves drained a 3-pointer of her own to lift the Mountaineers back in front, 42-39.
- A Chadron tying 3-pointer began a hectic final five minutes as the teams traded baskets and the lead over the remaining time.
- Western led 49-48 after a Cockman layup, but an Eagles jumper from Ashayla Powers flipped the lead and the Mountaineers were held scoreless over the final 103 seconds as Chadron would add five more points for the win.
- Early in the game the Mountaineers led 12-5 but surrendered the lead on an 11-0 Eagles run that spanned the end of the first and beginning of the second quarter.
- Western battled back from that drought to tie the game at 18-18 on a Maves trey, only to have Chadron score four answered to carry a 22-18 advantage into the halftime break.
COURT NOTES
- Cockman led all scorers with 18 points and all rebounders with 11. It was her fourth  double-double of the season. Her afternoon included a 3-for-3 day from the free throw line, Western's only trips to the charity stripe all game.
- Lane also reached double figures in scoring, adding 12 points, while Maves chipped in 9 points, all from behind the arc.
- Chadron was able to rally for the win, in part, with a 45 percent afternoon from the floor and its six free throws from nine attempts.
- Western won the battle of the boards, 35-31, behind Cockman's 11 rebounds.
- In all, there were seven ties and 12 lead changes, five of which came in the fourth quarter.

The Mountaineers return to Paul Wright Gym for their next game, a December 16 RMAC contest against visiting Colorado School of Mines. Tip-off is scheduled for 1 p.m.
