RAPID CITY, S.D. No. 15 Western Colorado will travel to Rapid City, S.D., to take on South Dakota Mines in a conference matchup Saturday (Oct. 7) at noon MT.Ā Ā 

The last time these two squads matched up, the Hardrockers visited Gunnison, Colo., and defeated the Mountaineers 38-10. Ā 
  
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKENDĀ | 2023 Stats

  • Western Colorado's 5-0 start is the best start the program has had since the 1979 team went 7-0 to start the season and then the 1980 team went 4-0 to begin the season.Ā Ā 

  • Drew Nash has been a big part of the team's success throwing for 1,073-yards so far this season, which ranks fourth in the conference this season. He also has collected 115 rushing yards in five games this season.Ā Ā 

  • Deyvon Butler and Braeden Hogan have been the main running backs for the Mountaineers and have combined for 552 yards this season.Ā Ā 

  • Ricky Freymond has been a key part of the Mountaineers defense all season but had a big role in his team's 43-7 win over Colorado Mesa last weekend. He registered three of the team's seven sacks last weekend and had four tackles for a loss of 22 yards, on his way to earning RMAC Defensive Player of the Week honors.Ā Ā 

  • Malcom Wesley earned the conference's Special Team Player of the week award after being a difference maker with two blocked punts last weekend. The Mountaineers were able to return one of those punts for a touchdown.Ā Ā 

HARDROCKERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKENDĀ | 2023 Stats

  • The Hardrockers are 3-2 overall with a 2-1 RMAC record heading into this weekend after a 49-14 victory over Black Hills State on Saturday.Ā Ā 

  • Jayden Johannson hasĀ led the offensive game for Hardrockers with 1,192 passing yards this season, he also has rushed for 281 yards.Ā 

  • Jalen Frye has been South Dakota Mines leading rusher with 391 yards, while averaging 78.2 yards per game.Ā 

  • Kaleb Tischler and Hunter Newsom lead the team in tackles with 36 and 33 tackles, respectively. Newsom also leads the team in tackles for loss with 4.5 for a total of 24 yards. Ā
