GUNNISON, Colo. No. 12 Western Colorado will take on New Mexico Highlands on Saturday, Oct. 21 at 1 p.m., on Katy O.Rady Field. The Mountaineers look for their eighth win of the season which would be the longest start to the season since 1978.
The Mountaineers have a two-game winning streak against the Cowboys and took a 30-13 victory in Las Vegas, N.M., last season.

The Mountaineers got another conference win on Saturday with a 35-20 victory against Black Hills State.

Drew Nash registered 108 passing yards and one touchdown pass last weekend, while collecting 49-rushing yards.

Deyvon Butler registered three of the Mountaineer's five touchdowns on the day. He leads the Mountaineers in rushing yards (513) which ranks second in the conference. He leads the RMAC with 10 rushing TDs this season and is second in average yards per game (73.3). His 10 TDs rank ninth in rushing TDs and 16th nationally in total TDs. He also ranks 27th in scoring and 22nd in total points scored.

The defense dominated again holding the Yellow Jackets to 283 yards of total offense. Ricky Freymond had another big game registering a sack, two tackles for loss and two tackles for the Mountaineers.

New Mexico Highlands comes into this weekend on a four-game losing streak and are coming off a 56-7 loss to Colorado State University Pueblo.

Joey Cave and Gage Guardiola have split time at the Quarterback position with Cave taking most of the snaps. The junior has thrown for 584 passing yards and 214 rushing yards.

Defensively, the Cowboys had 3 sacks as a team and Jon Nuschy led the team with nine total tackles.
