Colorado Springs / Pueblo, Colo.  Western Colorado will kick off Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference play this week, taking on University of Colorado at Colorado Springs (Sep. 15) and CSU-Pueblo (Sep. 18).
 
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • Western Colorado has had a solid start to the month of September, recording a 2-1-1 record. They have beaten Nebraska Kearney (1-0) and Texas A&M International (2-1), while losing to St. Mary's (0-3) and tying against Dominguez Hills (1-1).
  • Offensively, the underclassmen have been key in scoring goals, Kylie Hickox, Reece Mercer, Sarah Connolly, Desiree Trinidad-Gonzalez and Brenna Wolfe being the leading goal scorers each having one apiece.
  • Karly Morkunas and Mary Wilson have been important on the defensive end playing 518 and 489 minutes.
  • Goalkeepers, Alex Peralta and Aubree Orosco have been solid in goal recording 18 and 14 saves so far this season. Peralta has played 343 minutes, while Orosco has played 196 minutes.
MOUNTAIN LIONS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • UCCS has been impressive to start the season, only losing one game to No. 3 ranked Dallas Baptist. Since that game the Mountain Lions won three games straight and are currently on a two-game tie streak – tying 0-0 in both games against Central Washington and Cal Poly Pomona.
  • So far this season, Sydney Lasater has been the leading goal score for UCCS recording three goals, with Jael Larson right behind her with two goals. In the assist category Abby Barhydt and Makayla Merlo are the leaders on the team with three and two assists.
  • In goal, Alexis Walker has played in all six games recording 22 saves (.815 save percentage) and only allowing five goals against.
THUNDERWOLVES HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
  • CSU-Pueblo will look to get on track this week, as things have not gone their way early on in the season. The Thunderwolves are currently 1-5 and currently on a three-game losing streak. Their lone win of the season came against Bridgeport on Friday, Sep. 2.
  • Faith Meredith has the majority of CSU-Pueblo's goals this season recording three on the season. Sienna Gargano and Victoria Mitrick have the other goals for the Thunderwolves, each having one apiece.
  • Goalkeeper Nicole Genis, has played in all six games for CSU-Pueblo recording 27 saves (.674 save percentage) while giving up 14 goals.

Western Colorado will return home for their next game against Adams State (Sunday, Sep. 25) at 1 p.m.
