GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. Western Colorado will look to build on last weeks performances, when they take the pitch against California State University, Dominguez Hills (Sep. 2) and University of Nebraska at Kearney (Sep. 4).
MOUNTAINEERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Western Colorado gained valuable experience last weekend, when they faced off against Lubbock Christian and Chaminade University. While the Mountaineers loss both games, they showed promise in the second halves of both games. If Western Colorado can put it together they will be a formidable opponent.
- Reece Mercer scored the lone goal of the past weekend against Chaminade, in the 59:21 mark of the game.
- Overall, the Mountaineers are a young team – only having five upperclassmen – so there will be growing pains while the younger players get use to the pace at the collegiate level.
TOROS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Cal State Dominguez Hills had a similar start to the season, losing their first game of the season last weekend to Azusa Pacific. The Toros lost that game in the second half giving up two goals at the 75:57 and 77:41 mark of the game.
- Goalkeeper Abigail Escalante had three saves prior to giving up those two late goals. Cal State Dominguez Hills had four shots during the game with two being on goal.
- The Toros finished 5-11-1 last season, 2-8-1 in conference play and 1-7-1 at home.
LOPERS HEADING INTO THE WEEKEND | SEASON STATS
- Kearney is also searching for their first win of the season, after losing 0-3 to Winona State and tying 0-0 against Southwest Minn. St. Similar to the Toros last season wasn't the best for Nebraska Kearney as they went 2-16, 1-10 in conference play and 1-8 in home games.
- During the 2021 season, they had eight players record a goal, while Caralee Legg led the team in assist with two.
- This season Jaclyn Doering has the most shots on goal (2), with the team having eight total shots on goal.
