DURANGO, Colo. Things didn't bounce Western Colorado's way in the season opener, resulting in them falling 3-0 to Lubbock Christian.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Lady Chaps got on the board first, scoring 12:16 into the first half on a goal (low right corner) from Lexi De La Cruz that was assisted by Avery Jennings.
- The Mountaineers got two shots off in the first half at the 7:13 and 22:30 mark. However, the first shot by Kylee Smith missed to the right of the goal and the second shot, by Mary Wilson was saved by Lubbock Christian goalkeeper.
- Coming out of halftime, Western's offense started to click resulting in them creating three consecutive opportunities to score on corner kicks. Yet, Lubbock Christians defense was ready for each one as the ball was unable to find the back of the net.
- Nearly 10 minutes later the Mountaineers had another opportunity to score on a corner kick. But, had a similar outcome to the three previous ones.
- At the 76:03 mark of the game the Lady Chaps increased their lead to 2-0 on a breakaway goal scored by Lexi De La Cruz. Six minutes later Lubbock Christian Andy Holder scored the third goal of the game on an assist by De La Cruz.
PITCH NOTES
- The Mountaineers had two shots during the game, with one being on goal. While the Lady Chaps had 16 shots with eight being on goal.
- Alex Peralta did all she could in goal, recording five saves over the course of the game.
- In the second half Western had five corner kicks, six total in the game.
